Fulbright U.S. Scholars Program

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar program offers teaching and research awards to U.S. citizens in more than 135 countries. The goal of the Fulbright program is to increase mutual understanding and support friendly and peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. College and university faculty and administrators, as well as professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, and many others, can join the more than 400,000 Fulbright scholars who have come away with enhanced skills, new connections, broadened research networks and greater mutual understanding.

  • Recipients of a Fulbright Scholar award are eligible to apply for another award two years after the date of completion of the previous award.

Award Duration

Fulbright opportunities range from a few months to a full year and many awards offer flexible durations. Each award outlines the duration and potential start dates.

The Flex option is designed for Scholars who require multiple visits to the host country. This option allows grants to be conducted over short segments, preferably during the fall and/or spring semesters. Applicants should clearly indicate plans for Flex in their project statement and include a project timeline.
