Student Analytics and Campus Surveys
We collaborate with other units involved with student data and student data analytics to explore ways to improve the experiences and success of our students.
UCI’s Compass initiative
As part of the collaborative effort to utilize student data to its maximum potential, we actively participate with the Compass initiative at UC Irvine. Compass seeks to break down traditional campus data silos, and enable educators, administrators, and researchers to work together to ensure our educational practices, interventions and policies support our students in meaningful ways.
University of California Undergraduate Experience Survey
UCI regularly administers the UCUES, a longitudinal online census of undergraduate students in the UC system. All undergraduate students who are at least 18 years old are invited to participate.
UCUES data is IRAP’s primary source for providing campus leaders with insight into the undergraduate student experience. UCUES results are consistently incorporated into the academic program review process, providing a comprehensive assessment of academic engagement, student satisfaction with instruction and advising, perceptions of campus climate, time allocation, and post-graduation plans.
Survey of Graduating Seniors
One of the other surveys that is regularly administered at UCI is the Survey of Graduating Seniors. Every other Spring Quarter we administer a survey to students who have graduated or who are expected to graduate during the current academic year. The survey instrument is based on the Graduating Senior Survey designed by the Undergraduate Outcomes Work Group of the Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE), and was based on the recommendations of the AAU Institutional Data Committee. The survey’s questions are focused on outcomes (employment and the pursuit of advanced education), satisfaction with the educational experience, and education-related debt. Beyond the core set of AAUDE questions, UCI’s survey also includes additional items suggested by various campus stakeholders.
